coat of arms

The design of the coat of arms of Ricklingen Castle comes from the heraldist and author Werner Kaemling , who also designed the coat of arms of Blumenau , Empelde , Wedemark and many other places in the district of Hanover. The approval of the coat of arms was granted by the district president in Hanover on April 26, 1961.

Blazon : "In a split shield in front in red the silver Herzog-Albrecht monument (east side), behind in gold a blue oblique left-hand wave bar ."
Justification of the coat of arms: The monument reminds of a battle fought at the gates of Ricklingen Castle at the beginning of the 14th century, the wave bar symbolizes the line that flows directly past the place.

Culture and sights

Buildings

  • Ricklingen Castle, which emerged from a medieval moated castle, is the name given to the place. For centuries it served as an office building from which the Ricklingen office in the area around today's Garbsen was administered.
  • In the center of Ricklingen Castle is the Ricklingen Castle Church , which was completed in 1696. It is one of the most beautiful baroque churches in northern Germany. The organ was rebuilt in 2000 by Rudolf Janke behind the historical prospect . The parish hall and the rectory can be found in the immediate vicinity of the church.
  • The Duke Albrecht monument on a natural elevation in the village commemorates Duke Albrecht of Saxony-Wittenberg , who was fatally wounded with a slingshot during the siege of Ricklingen Castle in 1385.
  • The Leine, which runs southwest of the town, is spanned by a 46-meter-long semi-parabolic steel girder bridge , which was completed in 1897. An extensive restoration took place in 1990. The bridge is an industrial monument .
