Trendel Castle

Trendel Castle is a residential building and former castle in Trendel , a part of the municipality of Polsingen in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Middle Franconia .

history

To the southwest of the village of Trendel is a hill on which the Trendel Castle of the Noble von Trendel stood. These nobles from Trendel are first attested in documents from the 12th century. Later the aristocratic seat was given up and a small castle was built on the outskirts. This manor saw numerous changes of ownership. From the 16th to the 19th century, the noble families “von Stein”, “von Appold” and “von Schönfeld” owned the Trendel estate. Most of these families were in the service of the Margraves of Ansbach . A large part of the 40 or so properties in the village and the farms of Mäuskreut belonged to the manor.

Building description

Residential building, three-story building with pitched roof , upper floor half-timbered , 16./17. Century, stables and barn, 17th / 18th centuries Century ruin, preserved parts of the wall, probably from the late Middle Ages .

The castle is listed as a monument under the number D-5-77-162-35.
