history

The castle belonged to an unknown noble family and was probably located near the village of Mittelmuhr . However, both objects can no longer be precisely located. According to tradition, the gentlemen von Muhr are said to have lived here around the year 600. There were a few courtyards around the castle. For unexplained reasons, the castle burned down in the 14th century (according to other sources in 1584) and was not rebuilt. The fire in Mittelmuhr also plays a role in Friedrich Schiller's drama Die Räuber .
