history

The first documentary mention of Schmeilsdorf dates back to January 27, 1352. A certain Hainrich of the Chintsperger von Smeilsdorf is listed in an exchange document as a guarantor. It is believed that the place is a few centuries older. The settlers in the area followed the Zentbach, starting from its confluence with the Main. After Schwarzach (1096) and Schmeilsdorf, the towns of Danndorf (1381) and Schimmendorf (1390) emerged.

The community Schmeilsdorf, almost 300 hectares in size, with the community parts Schmeilsdorf and Ruffenhaus , was incorporated into Schwarzach on April 1, 1971 in the course of the municipal reform. On January 1, 1978, this community was incorporated into Mainleus.
