geography

The wasteland lies in the middle of a wooded hill. A residential road leads to Schimmendorf to the district road KU 33 (0.8 km southeast).

history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1348 as "Straßenhauser". It was built on an elevated road and therefore got its name. In 1564 the place was expressly referred to in the fief book of the Kulmbach monastery office as “the estate on the high street”. Originally had Klosterlangheim the manorial held on the estate.

Towards the end of the 18th century there was an estate in Straß. The high court exercised the Bamberg Centamt Weismain . The Langheimer Amtshof in Bamberg held the manorial rule over the estate .

From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the justice and chamber office Kulmbach . With the community edict, Straß was assigned to the Kirchleus tax district formed in 1811 and the Kirchleus rural community formed in 1812 . As a result of the second community edict (1818), the place was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community Schimmendorf . As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Straß was incorporated into Mainleus on January 1, 1978.
