history

The place was in 1390 as "Schimendorf" in Urbar of langheim abbey first mentioned. The defining word of the place name is the personal name Scimo, whose bearer was probably the founder of the place. In the 16th century, the place was on the border between the Principality of Bamberg and the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Kulmbach-Bayreuth , which was marked by the Zentbach.

At the end of the 18th century there were 42 properties in Schimmendorf. The high court to the east of the Zentbach was exercised by the Bavarian Bailiff's Office in Kulmbach and west of the Centbach by the Bamberg Central Office of Weismain . The rulership of the village and community was disputed between the Langheimer Amtshof in Bamberg and the Hain manor . Were landlords

From 1797 to 1808, with the exception of the Bamberg estate, the place was under the Kulmbach Justice and Chamber Office . With the community edict, Schimmendorf was assigned to the Kirchleus tax district formed in 1811 and the Kirchleus rural community formed in 1812 . With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Schimmendorf was formed with Mühlberg and Straß . It was subordinate to the Kulmbach Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Kulmbach Rent Office ( renamed the Kulmbach Tax Office in 1919 ). From 1862 the Kulmbach district office (renamed the Kulmbach district in 1939 ) was responsible for Schimmendorf. Jurisdiction remained with the Kulmbach Regional Court until 1879, and from 1879 the Kulmbach Local Court . The municipality had an area of 4.309 km².

As part of the municipal reform , the municipality of Schimmendorf was incorporated into the municipality of Mainleus on January 1, 1978.
