History and etymology

In 1864, the Berlin city archivist Ernst Fidicin pointed out in his note on the “Territories of the Mark Brandenburg” that Swartensee or Swarßenße already appeared in Charles IV's land book - albeit without any reference to the meaning of the name. It can therefore be assumed that the place already existed in the 14th century.

In 1731 a comparison was made between the town of Strasburg and Gut Schwarzensee about the course of the border between their corridors. In the so-called border recess was u. a. stipulated that the southern border of the property runs at the Luch. This corridor was called the Zwutsche and in the 21st century it still forms the southern edge of the Schwarzensee district. He therefore assumed that the place had already been a desert field mark at that time, especially since this description appears in other documents. The district is said to have been owned by von Raven and von Fahrenholz, who ruled the region for centuries as the Uckermark nobility. In the 17th century, Arnim zu Lüßelow acquired the property, but he sold it to Hans Anton Joachim von Arnim at a previously unknown point in time . In 1741 Anton Dietlef von Arnim held the church patronage and had a half-timbered church built. From the year 1774 there are 10 houses with 45 inhabitants. In 1782 the estate came to Heinrich Jacob Ludwig von Arnim. Until 1816 Schwarzensee belonged to the Uckermark District , part of the historic Uckermark landscape of the Mark Brandenburg . In 1817 Schwarzensee appeared in the local register of the government district of Potsdam according to the latest district division from 1817 with a farm in which a total of 88 residents lived. The von Arnim heirs were named as owners. Other owners are the district administrator von Arnim, the lieutenant von Arnim and, in 1850, the manor owner Keibel. Ten years earlier, in 1840, 109 people lived in nine houses in the village; In 1861 there were ten houses with 142 inhabitants. There were also three public buildings and 16 farm buildings.

As part of the formation of provinces and administrative districts in Prussia, the place came to the district of Prenzlau in the administrative district of Potsdam in the province of Brandenburg . On July 1, 1950, the community of Schwarzensee was assigned to the newly formed district of Pasewalk in what was then the state of Mecklenburg . On July 25, 1952, the community became part of the new Strasburg district in the Neubrandenburg district of the GDR . During this time, the half-timbered church had become dilapidated and was demolished. In 1968 craftsmen began to build a new building, which was inaugurated in 1969 .
