Sebastian Weber (born July 15, 1976 in Leipzig ) is a German actor .

biography

Sebastian Weber was born in Leipzig as the son of a photographer couple. From the age of nine he was a member of children's and youth theater groups. After graduating from the St. Thomas School in Leipzig, he went from 1996 to 2000 to the "Ernst Busch" Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin , where he worked in the class a. a. studied with August Diehl and Sandra Hüller .

His first theater role was in 2000 that of Franz Woyzeck in Georg Büchner's drama fragment of the same name at the Städtische Bühnen Nürnberg (now the Staatstheater Nürnberg ), followed in 2001 by the character of Count Fiesco in Friedrich Schiller's drama The Fiesco Conspiracy at Genoa at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . After productions at theaters in Berlin, Dresden and Hamburg, Weber became a member of the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2004, where he could be seen in various performances until 2009. In 2009 the theater was awarded the German Critics' Prize by the Association of German Critics and voted Theater of the Year.

Parallel to his theater work, Weber also plays in TV and cinema productions. One of his first films, Baader , ran in the 2001 Berlinale competition . The 2004 film drama Mutterseelenallein , in which he played the lead role alongside Katrin Sass and Vadim Glowna , also premiered at the Berlinale. In 2006 the ensemble film Shoppen followed , which was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize. Weber was seen on television in several crime scenes and in Police Call 110 as well as in the series A Case for Two and Murder with a View .

Sebastian Weber is married to the journalist Lisa Rüffer and lives with his family in Munich .
