Setzelsdorf is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Seßlach in the Coburg district .

geography

Setzelsdorf is located about 15 kilometers southwest of Coburg an der Alster , a right tributary of the Itz . The district road CO 6 from Heilgersdorf to Memmelsdorf in Lower Franconia runs through the village.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1303/13 as "Setzelnorf" in a document that mentions "Wolflinus von Stein" as the owner of the tithe.

Later landlords were the barons of Lichtenstein . The Thirty Years War led to destruction and flight of the inhabitants. In the 18th century there were ten settler sites in the village.

Setzelsdorf belonged to the Würzburg monastery , which was secularized in 1803 and for the most part added to the Electorate of Bavaria . From December 1806 to 1814 Setzelsdorf belonged to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg . In 1818 Setzelsdorf became part of the political community Heilgersdorf, whereby the community rights remained unaffected. In 1840 there were 11 houses in which 10 families lived. Since 1862 the community Heilgersdorf together with Setzelsdorf belonged to the newly created Bavarian district office Ebern . In 1875 Setzelsdorf had 51 residents and 36 buildings. The children went to school in Memmelsdorf.

On October 1, 1913, Setzelsdorf was connected to the railway network with the Breitengüßbach – Dietersdorf railway. The passenger traffic was stopped on September 28, 1975, on September 27, 1981 the complete shutdown took place.

In 1925 Setzelsdorf had 56 residents and 10 residential buildings.

After the introduction of the new municipal code in the German Reich on April 1, 1935, Setzelsdorf was incorporated into Heilgersdorf against the will of the residents.

On July 1, 1972, the Lower Franconian district of Ebern was dissolved. Since then, Setzelsdorf has been part of the Coburg district . In the course of the Bavarian regional reform , Heilgersdorf lost its independence as a municipality on May 1, 1978. Setzelsdorf became a district of Seßlach.

In 1987 the village had 34 residents and 11 houses with 12 apartments. Setzelsdorf belongs to the parish of the Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Memmelsdorf .
