Oberelldorf is a district of the city Sesslach in Coburg in the district of Upper Franconia of the Free State of Bavaria .

history

A document is mentioned on January 13, 1310, when the bishop of Würzburg Andreas von Gundelfingen gave the Langheim monastery the tenth of hay in “ville Ineltorff”. In the 14th century the place was passed from the Hochstift Würzburg to the Lords of Lichtenstein . In the 15th century, the Tambach monastery office took all of Oberelldorf into its possession. The place belonged to the free monk villages of the monastery office.

In 1801 the place had a community shepherd's house, a community brewery and 18 other estates built on with a house and barn. 1803 was a territorial part Bishopric of Bamberg , the Klosterlangheim secularized and thus its steward Tambach and part of the electorate of Bavaria . In January 1806, Count Joseph Carl took possession of the Tambacher Lande as an imperial county of Ortenburg-Tambach . In October 1806 the county was mediatized . From December 1806 to 1814, Oberelldorf belonged to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg as part of the Tambacher Land . After its dissolution, the Tambach Lordship Court was assigned to the Mainkreis . In 1862 Oberelldorf was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Staffelstein .

In 1875 the village had 138 inhabitants, 67 buildings and 24 houses. In 1925 114 people lived in 27 houses. 110 people were Roman Catholic and four were Evangelical Lutheran. On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved. Since then, Oberelldorf has been part of the Coburg district . In the course of the Bavarian territorial reform , Oberelldorf lost its independence as a municipality on May 1, 1975 and became a part of the municipality of Seßlach.

Catholic branch church of St. Nicholas

Attractions

The Catholic branch church St. Nikolaus was built in its current form between 1710 and 1720. The core of the choir tower church dates from the 14th / 15th centuries. Century. It has a neo-Gothic high altar.
