Unterelldorf is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Seßlach in the Coburg district .

geography

Unterelldorf is located about 15 kilometers southwest of Coburg on a western slope above the Alster , a tributary of the Itz . The district road CO 16 connects the place with Rothenberg and Oberelldorf .

history

Unterelldorf was first mentioned in a document in 1290 when the Würzburg Bishop Manegold pledged the tithe in "Eltdorf" to Karl von Heldritt . The Tambach monastery in Unterelldorf owned possessions and fiefs . In January 1806, Count Joseph Carl took possession of the Tambacher Lande, to which Unterelldorf also belonged, as an imperial county of Ortenburg-Tambach . In October 1806 the county was mediatized . From December 1806 to 1814 Unterelldorf belonged to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg as part of the Tambacher Land . After its dissolution, the Tambach Lordship Court was assigned to the Mainkreis . In 1862 Unterelldorf was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office in Staffelstein .

In 1875 the village had 148 inhabitants, 72 buildings and 28 houses. 78 people belonged to the parish of the Roman Catholic parish church in Seßlach and 70 to that of the Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Hafenpreppach . In 1925 the village had 143 residents and 30 houses. 44 people belonged to the parish of the Roman Catholic parish church in Autenhausen and 99 to that of the Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Hafenpreppach. In 1987 the village had 135 inhabitants and 30 houses with 41 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved. Since then, Unterelldorf has been part of the Coburg district . In the course of the Bavarian territorial reform , Unterelldorf lost its independence as a municipality on May 1, 1978 and became part of the municipality of Seßlach.

Attractions

Brewery

A small communal brewery with its own malt kiln was built in 1848. In 2012 the brewery was renovated with an attached bakery. The traditional brewing association brews 20 hectoliters of a cellar beer six to eight times a year.
