history

The first mention was in 1231, when "Herbert de Diettdorf" was mentioned as a witness in a document from 1233. The second documentary mention comes from the year 1283. Another mention followed in 1338, when Ulrich von Hanau, Lord of Rotenfels, handed over the Langheim monastery to the Langheim monastery at the request of Apel von Lichtenstein zu Seßlach, whose farm in "Dytrichdorf" (Dietersdorf) was handed over. The place was named after a man named Dietrich.

During the Thirty Years' War Dietersdorf was largely destroyed by imperial and Bavarian troops under Wallenstein . In 1684 there were again 29 households in the village after it died out.

Dietersdorf was a Ganerbendorf , as in 1801 the monastery courtyard Tambach owned eight, the Würzburg wine cellar Seßlach twenty, the Lords von Lichtenstein two and the community two domestic fiefs. In January 1806, Count Joseph Carl von Ortenburg took possession of the Tambacher Lande, to which Dietersdorf also belonged, as an imperial county of Ortenburg-Tambach . In October 1806 the county was mediatized . From December 1806 to 1810 Dietersdorf belonged to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg as part of the Tambacher Land . After its dissolution, the Tambach Lordship Court was assigned to the Mainkreis . In 1862 Dietersdorf was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office in Staffelstein .

In 1875 the village had 272 inhabitants, 110 buildings, 60 houses and a school. 158 people, whose children attended the village school, belonged to the parish of the Roman Catholic parish church in Seßlach. 114 citizens belonged to the parish of the Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Gemünda, their children went to school there. In 1925 the village had 297 inhabitants, 54 houses and a school. 168 people belonged to the parish of the Roman Catholic parish church in Seßlach and 129 to that of the Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Gemünda. In 1987 the village had 382 inhabitants and 108 houses with 142 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved. Since then Dietersdorf has been part of the Coburg district . In the course of the Bavarian regional reform Dietersdorf lost its independence as a municipality on May 1, 1978 and became part of the municipality of Seßlach.

On October 1, 1913 Dietersdorf was connected to the railway network with the Breitengüßbach – Dietersdorf railway. It was the terminus of the railway line, which was equipped, among other things, with a double-track locomotive shed with the necessary disposal facilities and an integrated residential building. In the course of the construction of the federal highway 303, the building was demolished at the end of the 1970s. The passenger traffic was stopped on September 28, 1975, on September 27, 1981 the complete shutdown took place.

Catholic branch church St. Kilian

The Catholic branch church St. Kilian is the landmark and center of Dietersdorf on an elevation and is surrounded by a cemetery wall. The base of the choir tower has a cross vault and is dated to the 13th century. The bell storey was added in the second half of the 16th century. The core of the nave is late Gothic .

The church was burned down in the Thirty Years War. In 1664 the roofs were restored and in 1774 the rest of the reconstruction work was completed. The wooden ceiling of the hall church is of modern origin. Windows, door frames, sacristy and organ gallery were designed in 1880. A special feature is the stone pulpit from 1610, which stood in the Seßlach town church until 1696. The high altar is of early Baroque origin and dates from the end of the 18th century.
