Lechenroth is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Seßlach in the Coburg district .

geography

Lechenroth is located about 16 kilometers southwest of Coburg on a western slope above the Alster , a tributary of the Itz . The district road CO 16 connects the place with Dürrenried and Oberelldorf .

history

The first documentary mention was in 1303. Lechenroth belonged to the Würzburg monastery . The place was once the men Lichtenstein and then the Wuerzburg Juliusspital tenth of charge . In 1802 the Würzburg monastery was secularized . In January 1806, Count Joseph Carl took possession of the Tambacher Lande, to which Lechenroth also belonged, as an imperial county of Ortenburg-Tambach . In October 1806 the county was mediatized . From December 1806 to 1814 Lechenroth belonged to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg as part of the Tambacher Land . After its dissolution, the Tambach Lordship Court was assigned to the Mainkreis . In 1862 Lechenroth was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office in Staffelstein .

In 1875 the village had 62 residents and 32 buildings. 77 people lived in the community, consisting of Lechenroth and Muggenbach , of whom 25 were Roman Catholic and 52 were Evangelical Lutheran. They belonged to the parishes of the parish churches in Seßlach and Hafenpreppach . The children attended school in Oberelldorf and Hafenpreppach. In 1925 the village had 63 residents and 12 houses. 89 people lived in the community, of whom 31 were Roman Catholics and 58 were Evangelical Lutheran. In 1987 the village had 65 inhabitants and 14 houses with 14 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved. Since then, Lechenroth has been part of the Coburg district . In the course of the Bavarian regional reform , Lechenroth lost its independence as a municipality on May 1, 1978. Lechenroth and its district Muggenbach became districts of Seßlach.
