Krumbach is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Seßlach in the Coburg district .

geography

Krumbach is located about nine kilometers southwest of Coburg on a northern slope above a stream of the same name, a tributary of the Rodach . The district road CO 16 from Witzmannsberg to Seßlach leads past the place.

history

Krumbach was around the 9./10. First mentioned in the traditions of the Fulda Abbey in the 19th century . In 1292 Karl von Heldritt donated the independent village "Crumpach" to the Langheim monastery . The place subsequently belonged to the free monk villages of the Tambach monastery office .

In 1803, as a territorial part of the Bamberg Monastery, the Langheim Monastery and thus also its Tambach monastery was secularized and part of the Electorate of Bavaria . In January 1806 Count Joseph Carl von Ortenburg took possession of the Tambacher Lande as an imperial county of Ortenburg-Tambach . In October 1806 the county was mediatized . From December 1806 to 1810 Krumbach belonged to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg as part of the Tambacher Land . After its dissolution, the Tambach Lordship Court was assigned to the Mainkreis . In 1862, Krumbach was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office in Staffelstein . In addition, Krumbach became part of Witzmannsberg.

In 1875 Krumbach had 110 residents and 66 buildings. In 1925 the place had 88 residents and 17 houses. He belonged to the parish of the Roman Catholic parish church in Seßlach and the Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Tambach. In 1987 the village had 58 inhabitants and 16 houses with 17 apartments.

With the dissolution of the Staffelstein district on July 1, 1972, Witzmannsberg was incorporated into Ahorn and from Krumbach to Seßlach.
