Seulbitz is a district of Bayreuth .
Surname
The name, like the other names ending in -itz in the Bayreuth area, is of Slavic origin.
history
Seulbitz had to pay the tithe to Würzburg and there is evidence that it already existed before the founding of the Bamberg diocese in 1007. In 1035, the place was described as the Salian royal estate Silevvize in a certificate from Emperor Konrad II on the occasion of a donation to a Bamberg named Luitpold with all properties . The extensive list of buildings, mills and fishing facilities indicates a stately settlement that has existed for some time. In 1137 Bishop Otto von Bamberg acquired the former royal estate of Luitpold von Zirkendorf and donated it to the Bamberg monastery of St. Getreu .
The place in Radenzgau was on a significant incline of the medieval trade route to Weidenberg , which came from Laineck and ran over the Pensen plateau . The later development was largely rural. Remnants of the old buildings can no longer be ascertained, only field names indicate their former importance.
Today the place consists of an old rural part and several modern settlements. The Lohengrin Therme of the city of Bayreuth is also located there.
Until the regional reform , the place was an independent political municipality. On July 1, 1976, it was incorporated into the city of Bayreuth.
