Sham Shui Po District ( Chinese  深水埗 區  /  深水埗 区 , Pinyin Shēnshuǐbù Qū , Jyutping Sam 1 soei 2 bou 6 * 2 Keoi 1  - "deep water pier district") is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong . It has about 405,869 inhabitants on an area of 9.48 km². The district includes the districts of Cheung Sha Wan , Lai Chi Kok , Sham Shui Po (district) , Shek Kip Mei , So Uk , Tai Wo Ping and Yau Yat Chuen .

In 1955 , a grave from the time of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 BC - 220) was discovered during construction work in the area of the settlement of Lei Cheng Uk ( 李 - 屋邨 ) . The Hong Kong region has therefore been archaeologically considered to have been inhabited by humans for at least this time. A museum has been set up at the excavation site, the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum ( 李 鄭 屋 古墓  /  李 郑 屋 古墓 ).

Sham Shui Po is located in the northwest of Kowloon . It was one of the first industrially developed districts in Hong Kong, which is still dominated by factory buildings and warehouses today. Sham Shui Po is connected to the Hong Kong subway network. The MTR lines, Tsuen Wan Line , Kwun Tong Line , Tung Chung Line, and West Rail Line run through the district .

The Sham Shui Po district is one of the lowest income districts in Hong Kong with the lowest average monthly income per resident.

The district is known for cheap shopping for computers , electrical and electronic equipment, and video games . The Golden Computer Arcade ( 黃金 電腦 商場 ) on the ground floor and basement and the two interconnected and related shopping centers Golden Computer Center ( 高 登 電腦 中心 ) and Golden Computer Plaza ( 高 登 電腦 廣場 ) on the first floor are located in the same building Golden Building ( 黃金 大廈 ) high-rise in Sham Shui Po. They are known, for example, for the fact that you can buy computer accessories, electronic devices and video games very cheaply there, as well as illegal copies of software, music and films. As a former location for textile production, there are still many wholesalers of the textile business in Sham Shui Po to this day (as of 2018) , especially for the purchase of fabrics and materials or accessories.

The former internationally known dealer for console hardware Lik-Sang had its headquarters here in the 1990s.
