Sherani District is an administrative district in Pakistan in Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of Stano Raaghah .

The district has an area of ​​2800 km² and according to the 2017 census 153,116 inhabitants. The population density is 55 inhabitants / km².

geography

The district is located in the extreme northeast of the Balochistan Province, which is located in western Pakistan. Much of Sherani consists of rough, mountainous and difficult to access terrain.

climate

The climate in the district is pleasant in summer and extremely cold in winter. In autumn the weather becomes very dry. The rainy season is mostly in June, July and August. It is accompanied by thunderstorms and storms from July to September due to the diversion of monsoon winds westward from Punjab . The higher altitude areas are exposed to heavy snowfall and blizzards in winter.

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 3.35% annually. 100% of the population lives in rural regions. 84,994 men, 68,115 women and 7 transgender people live in 21,213 households, resulting in a gender ratio of 124.8 men per 100 women, which is a common surplus for Pakistan.

The literacy rate in 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 38% (women: 6%, men: 68%).

economy

Most of the workers are employed in agriculture. The district is completely rural and there is almost no industry.
