The Haranai District , also Harnai , is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of Haranai .

The district has an area of ​​4096 km² and according to the 2017 census 97,017 inhabitants. The population density is 24 inhabitants / km².

The district is located on the northeast of the Balochistan Province, which is in the west of Pakistan.

climate

The summers are very hot and the winters are mild. The rainy season is mostly in the monsoons .

history

The district emerged in 2007 from the Sibi district .

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 1.24% annually. Around 25% of the population live in urban regions and around 75% in rural regions. 51,909 men and 45,108 women live in 17,353 households, which results in a gender ratio of 115.1 men per 100 women and thus a frequent surplus of men for Pakistan. The largest ethnic group are the Pashtuns .

The literacy rate in 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 29% (women: 12%, men: 44%).
