The Loralai District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of Loralai .
The district has an area of 9830 km² and according to the 2017 census 397,400 inhabitants. The population density is 40 inhabitants / km².
geography
The district is located northeast of Balochistan Province, which is in western Pakistan. Geographically, the district is mountainous and valleys run through the various mountain ranges in which the majority of the inhabitants live.
climate
The climate in Loralai is dry, but it varies with altitude; At high altitudes it is cold and dry, but significantly warmer at low altitudes.

Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 2.46% annually. Around 16% of the population live in urban regions and around 84% in rural regions. 212,451 men and 184,948 women live in 55,876 households, resulting in a gender ratio of 114.9 men per 100 women and thus a common surplus of men for Pakistan. The majority of the population consists of Pashtuns .
The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 44% (women: 22%, men: 61%).
