The district Dera Bugti , is an administrative district in Pakistan in the province of Baluchistan . The seat of the district administration is the city of Dera Bugti .
The district has an area of 10,159 km² and according to the 2017 census 312,603 inhabitants. The population density is 31 inhabitants / km².
geography
The district is located on the northeast of Balochistan Province, which is located in western Pakistan and borders Sindh and Punjab .
climate
Dera Bugti's climate is hot and dry in summer and dry and mild in winter. The rainy season is mostly in the months of July, August and September.
history
The Bugti Territory was one of the last areas to come under British colonial rule. The Bugtis defied the British and fought with great courage against British troops in the 19th century. However, an armistice was reached in the last quarter of the century and the rule of the British government was extended to Bugdi.
The modern district emerged in 1983 from the Kohlu district .

Demographics
The main tribe of the region are the Bugti, a Baluch tribe. The tribe is further divided into different clans. The Bugtis are considered talented riders and good fighters.
Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 2.90% annually. About 32% of the population live in urban areas and about 68% in rural areas. 163,836 men and 148,767 women live in 46,585 households, which results in a gender ratio of 110.1 men per 100 women and thus a frequent surplus of men for Pakistan.
The literacy rate in 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 25% (women: 4%, men: 43%), making it the lowest in the province of Balochistan.
