The Naseerabad District , also Nasirabad , is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of Naseerabad .

The district has an area of ​​3387 km² and according to the 2017 census, 490,538 inhabitants. The population density is 145 inhabitants / km².

The district is located northeast of Balochistan Province, which is in western Pakistan.

climate

The weather can get extremely hot in summer. The winter season is mild throughout the district. The humidity increases in summer. Dust storms are common in hot weather in the summer season. Rainfall is very rare. Due to the monsoon rains, the percentage of rains is higher in July and August.

history

The district was formed in 1974 from parts of Kalat .

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 3.69% annually. Around 20% of the population live in urban regions and around 80% in rural regions. 252,878 men, 237,651 women and 9 transgender people live in 66,681 households, which results in a gender ratio of 106.4 men per 100 women and thus a common surplus of men for Pakistan. The main languages ​​in the district are Baluch , Sindhi , Brahui , and Saraiki . The lingua franca is Urdu .

The literacy rate in 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 31% (women: 11%, men: 49%).
