Kachhi District , known as Bolan until 2008 , is an administrative district in Pakistan in Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of Dhadar .
The district has an area of 7,499 km² and according to the 2017 census 237,030 inhabitants. The population density is 32 inhabitants / km².
geography
The district is located in the northeast of the Balochistan Province, which is located in the west of Pakistan.
climate
The climate in the hilly areas of Kachhi District is temperate in summer and cool in winter, when temperatures can drop as low as -17 Celsius.
history
The Kachhi Plain is home to the Mehrgarh civilization . One of the most important Neolithic sites is here. It is one of the earliest areas in South Asia where arable farming (wheat and barley) and livestock (cattle, sheep and goats) have been recorded.

Demographics
The population of Kachhi is ethnically diverse and divided into different tribes. Sindhi is the most widely spoken language in the region, followed by Baluch and Brahui , while Urdu is a lingua franca of education and communication between people of different ethnic backgrounds, especially in the urban areas of the district. The majority of the people are Muslim while Hindus are a small minority.
Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 0.91% annually. Around 15% of the population live in urban regions and around 85% in rural regions. 126,379 men and 110,651 women live in 30,140 households, which results in a gender ratio of 114.2 men per 100 women and thus a frequent surplus of men for Pakistan.
The literacy rate in 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 43% (women: 23%, men: 59%).
