The Musakhel District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of Musakhel Bazar .

The district has an area of ​​5728 km² and according to the 2017 census 167,017 inhabitants. The population density is 29 inhabitants / km².

geography

The district is located northeast of the Balochistan Province, which is located in the west of Pakistan and borders the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces . The district is mostly mountainous with two main mountains running north to south known as Surghar and Torghar .

climate

The climate of Musakhail is semi-arid and can be classified in the temperature category of "warm summer and mild winter". Summer is longer than winter and lasts about 7 months from April to October. The rainy season is mostly in the months of April and August.

The district was formed in 1992 from parts of Loralai .

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 1.16% annually. About 8% of the population live in urban areas and about 92% in rural areas. 90,240 men and 76,777 women live in 24,826 households, resulting in a gender ratio of 117.5 men per 100 women, which is a frequent male surplus for Pakistan. The majority of the population consists of Pashtuns .

The literacy rate in 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 43% (women: 28%, men: 57%).
