The Quetta District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Quetta .

The district has an area of ​​2653 km² and according to the 2017 census 2,275,699 inhabitants. The population density is 858 inhabitants / km². Various languages ​​such as Pashto , Balochish , Punjabi , Urdu and Brahui are spoken in the district.

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew at an annual rate of 5.82%, which is very rapid. Around 44% of the population live in urban regions and around 56% in rural regions. 1,193,913 men, 1,081,755 women and 31 transgender live in 276,711 households . This results in a gender ratio of 110.4 men per 100 women and thus a more frequent male surplus for Pakistan.

The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 63% (women: 37%, men: 78%).
