The Nushki District is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Balochistan Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of Nushki .

The district has an area of ​​5797 km² and according to the 2017 census 178,796 inhabitants. The population density is 31 inhabitants / km².

geography

The district is located north of the Balochistan Province, which is in the west of Pakistan and borders Afghanistan . Geographically, the eastern and southern parts of the district are made up of hilly areas while the rest of the district is a plain. The elevation of the terrain varies between 807 and 2,064 meters above mean sea level.

climate

The climate in Nushki is very hot in summer and mild to very cold in winter. The difference between day and night temperatures is considerable and climatic conditions vary from area to area. Since the monsoons no longer reach the district , rainfall is irregular and sparse.

history

Nushki was created in 2004 from parts of Chagai .

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 3.21% annually. About 26% of the population live in urban areas and about 74% in rural areas. 92,430 men and 86,366 women live in 22,662 households, resulting in a gender ratio of 107 men per 100 women, which is a frequent male surplus for Pakistan. The main languages ​​spoken are Baluch , Brahui and Urdu .

The literacy rate in 2014/15 among the population aged 10 and over was 46% (women: 21%, men: 67%).
