Siegmar Schneider

Siegmar Schneider (born December 10, 1916 in Berlin , † February 8, 1995 in Munich ) was a German actor and voice actor .

After graduation Schneider attended from 1935 to 1937, the training institute for young stage of Lilly Ackermann in Berlin. In 1937 he made his debut as a stage actor at the State Theater in Bremen. This was followed by engagements in Augsburg, Stuttgart, at the Vienna Burgtheater (1942–1945) and at the Salzburg Festival . In 1945 he moved to the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen as acting director for a short time . Two years later he went to Berlin, where he was mainly active as an actor again. a. at the Deutsches Theater and at the Schiller Theater . He also gave guest performances with Willy Maertens at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. In 1963 he was named state actor for his services to the stage .

He also made his feature film debut in 1936. In the following period he played under the direction of Slatan Dudow in the DEFA classic Our Daily Bread , under the direction of Wolfgang Liebeneiner on leave of honor , in Kurt Hoffmann's Dürrenmatt adaptation The Marriage of Mr Mississippi and as Austen Chamberlain in Axel Eggebrecht's Stresemann - Biography. He also found a larger field of activity in television. a. in the title role in Walter Rilla's Siegfrieds Tod after Alix du Frênes , in The Chinese Wall (after Max Frisch ), in the film adaptation of the Dürrenmatt comedy Romulus the Great (director: Helmut Käutner ), as uncle in Schiller's Der Neffe as uncle and im Science fiction film Don't turn around - the golem is going around (Director: Peter Beauvais ). He also took on roles in television series such as Tatort , Der Alte , Derrick and as Ernst von Weizsäcker in the semi-documentary history series Danziger Mission .

In 1965 he was also appointed chief dramaturge in the main television play department at Südwestfunk in Baden-Baden.

In addition, Schneider was extensively active as a voice actor between 1949 and 1992 and almost regularly lent his voice to James Stewart (e.g. in Das Fenster zum Hof , The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance , Vertigo - From the Realm of the Dead and Winchester '73 ). He also synchronized u. a. Lex Barker ( Thundering Hooves ), Peter Cushing ( Dracula's Witch Hunt ), Errol Flynn ( Montana ), Henry Fonda ( War and Peace ), John Gielgud ( Diamonds and Cockroaches ), Alec Guinness ( Nobility Obliged ), Jack Hawkins ( Ben Hur ), John Mills ( your chance was nil ), Laurence Olivier (e.g. The Power and the Glory ), Michael Redgrave ( keyword "Heavy Water" ), Peter Sellers (in the role of Dr. Strange in Dr Strange or: How I learned to love the bomb ) and Terry-Thomas ( Charlie Brown of all people ).

Siegmar Schneider died in 1995. He was buried next to his wife, the Berlin dance teacher Gertrud Wienecke (1908–1990), in their adopted home of Stuttgart-Sillenbuch .
