Sjarhej Mikalajewitsch Drosd ( Belarusian Сяргей Мікалаевіч Дрозд ; Russian Сергей Николаевич Дрозд / Sergei Nikolajewitsch Drosd; born April 14, 1990 in Minsk , Belarusian is a Belarusian ice hockey player in Minsk , Belarusian Minsk player is under the Belarusian Russian SSR since June 2018 . Before that, he played for HK Dinamo Minsk in the Continental Hockey League for eight years .

Career

Sjarhej Drosd began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Lokomotive Yaroslavl , for whose second team he was active from 2005 to 2008 in the Pervaya League , the third Russian division. The 2008/09 season began the center at Schinnik Babrujsk in the Belarusian extra league, before he ran up in the further season for its league rivals HK Keramin Minsk and HK Dinamo Minsk in the Continental Hockey League . The 2009/10 season he spent with the Tri-City Americans in the Canadian Junior League Western Hockey League , which had previously selected him in the second round of the CHL Import Draft in a total of 67th place. With the team he failed in the playoffs for the Ed Chynoweth Cup only in the final at the Calgary Hitmen .

For the 2010/11 season Drosd returned to HK Dinamo Minsk, for which he was on the ice in the KHL until 2018. In the 2013/14 season, in addition to his KHL missions for Minsk, he also played in the Belarusian extra league for HK Njoman Hrodna .

International

For Belarus, Drosd took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championships in the Top Division 2008 and the U20 Junior World Championships in Division I in 2009 , when he was the top scorer and, together with his compatriot Ihar Rewenka, was the second best scorer behind the French Stéphane Da Costa , and in 2010 , when he was the second best scorer of the tournament behind the Norwegian Scott Winkler , together with the Norwegians Jonas Djupvik Løvlie and Andreas Martinsen as well as the Croatian Dominik Kanaet .

In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in the top division in 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2015 and 2016 . He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .
