The Slovenska Nogometna Liga 1996/97 , also called Liga Si.mobil Vodafone after the sponsor, was the sixth season of the top Slovenian league in men's football . It began on August 4, 1996 and ended on June 1, 1997. The defending champion was ND HIT Gorica .
