Smolnik ( German  Theerbude ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Świętajno ( Schwentainen ) in the Powiat Olecki ( Oletzko district , Treuburg district from 1933 to 1945 ).

Geographical location

Smolnik is located in the eastern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 16 kilometers southwest of the district town of Olecko ( Marggrabowa , 1928 to 1945 Treuburg ).

history

Theerbude had only been on the maps since 1868. In 1895, with a total of 12 inhabitants, the Theerbude estate was incorporated into the Lycker Forst estate in 1903.

On September 30, 1928, u. a. Theerbude in the Lycker Forst estate and the Polommen estate districts (1938 to 1945 Herzogsmühle, in Polish: Połom ) and Röbel (in Polish: Kije ) merged to form the new rural municipality of Polommen.

As a result of the war, Theerbude came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and has since been known as “Smolnik” in Polish. Today the hamlet ( osada in Polish ) is part of the rural community Świętajno ( Schwentainen ) in the Powiat Olecki ( Oletzko district , Treuburg district from 1933 to 1945 ), before 1998 the Suwałki voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian voivodeship .

church

Before 1945 Theerbude was parish in the Evangelical Church of Schwentainen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic parish church of Marggrabowa (1928 to 1945 Treuburg , Polish Olecko ) in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Smolnik belongs to the Protestant parish Wydminy ( Widminnen ), a branch parish of the parish Giżycko ( Lötzen ) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland and to the Catholic parish church Świętajno and its branch church in Wronickenki ( Wronken , 1938 to 1945 Fronicken ) of the Ełk Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland .

traffic

Smolnik can be reached by a country road that branches off the side road in an easterly direction that connects Wronki with Połom on the DW 655 voivodeship road . There is no train connection.
