Sohlbach is a district of the city ​​of Siegen .

geography

Sohlbach is located about 8 km northwest of the center of Siegen in the Sohlbach valley. The place is at an altitude between 270 and 330  m . The highest mountain in the district is Holenborn with a height of 404.8  m to the west of the village.

Sohlbach is located in the north of Siegen and borders among other things on the districts of Geisweid in the south, Langenholdinghausen and Buchen in the west as well as on the Kreuztaler districts of Fellinghausen in the northwest and Buschhütten in the northeast. The Sohlbacher district with 1.98 km² is one of the smaller districts in the Siegen city area. The place is overgrown with Geisweid in the south and beeches in the northwest.

Sohlbach was first mentioned in a document in 1461.

Parts of Sohlbach were incorporated into the municipality of Klafeld on October 1, 1958 . On July 1, 1966, the municipality , which up to this point had belonged to the Weidenau office, was incorporated into the newly founded town of Hüttental by the first law to reorganize the district of Siegen . In the course of the renewed municipal reorganization, the city of Hüttental was incorporated into the city of Siegen on January 1, 1975, making Sohlbach a district of Siegen.
