Sophia Kuby

Sophia Kuby (born June 13, 1981 in Starnberg ) is a German conservative Catholic activist . She was spokeswoman for the "Generation Benedict" and now leads the life rights group European Dignity Watch .

Life

Kuby is the daughter of the Christian publicist and translator Gabriele Kuby and the granddaughter of the publicist Erich Kuby . From 2002 to 2008 she studied philosophy at the University of Philosophy in Munich and wrote her master's thesis (MA) on Nicomachean ethics . She spent stays abroad at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in Santiago and in Paris and Princeton, New Jersey.

In 2000 she joined the Catholic Church , until then without a denomination . She became the spokeswoman for the media network “Generation Benedikt” and a member of the Emmanuel spiritual community . She is an avowed anti- abortionist and volunteers as deputy chairwoman and federal youth commissioner for the Christian Democrats for Life (CDL). In 2008 she was co-organizer of the World Youth Days in Sydney. Then she was marketing manager at a Landshut media company. In 2010 she founded the NGO European Dignity Watch in Brussels, of which she is now Executive Director. The organization is vehemently against gender equality and criticizes the policy of the European Union in this regard . Among other things, she also takes a critical position against the so-called morning-after pill .

She appeared as a speaker a. a. at the Forum of German Catholics, at the Bioethics Academy of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung , at the Weikersheim Study Center , and at the Library of Conservatism . In 2012 and 2013 she played a leading role in the demonstration March for Life in Berlin. In 2014 she debated the 99th German Catholic Day in Regensburg on the subject of pregnancy conflict counseling .

Generation Benedict

Kuby appeared publicly until 2013 as a spokeswoman for the media network "Generation Benedikt" (today: "Initiative Pontifex"). This initiative sees itself as an international network of Catholics loyal to the Pope. In connection with her entry into the church, she speaks of a "huge expansion of my perspective". So she attested Pope Benedict XVI. a "radical will [s] to enlightenment". She stated on a talk show: “I find him credible. Criticism and reception

According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , which relies on media archives, Kuby is "a pilgrim of the 'Benedict generation' and Bavarian conservatives ". She supports the marriage between man and woman, love in partnership, the woman's career renunciation and a single-income household.
