Sonnseite is a scattered settlement in the Upper Murtal in Styria as well as a locality (Sankt Johann am Tauern Sonnseite) and cadastral community (St. Johann Sonnseite) of the municipality of Pölstal in the Murtal district .

geography

The location is around 25 kilometers northwest of Judenburg . The scattered houses Sonnseite are left (east side) in the rear Pölstal on the 970- 1,260  m above sea level. A. Height. They extend from 4 km north of Möderbrugg for a good 12 km on the Pölsbach into the valley. Together with the left bank parts of the village of Sankt Johann , they form the village of Sankt Johann am Tauern Sonnseite . It includes around 200 addresses with around 320 residents (January 1, 2020: 335). This also includes - towards the valley - the houses Lerchgraben Seitab, the Zechner settlement , and after St. Johann the Weingrubersiedlung and Unterhauser- / Kaltenegger- / Wiesersiedlung , and the houses Pölsen in the source valley of the Pöls.

The cadastral community of St. Johann Sonnseite with about 5000  hectares extends from the Pölsufer up the left side of the valley up to the ridge Kesseleck - Hochleitenspitze - Grießstein  ( 2337  m above sea level ) of the Seckauer Tauern , to the shoulder height over to Hohentauern , and - likewise only left - into the Pölsen, up to the Bösenstein  ( 2448  m above sea level ), already in the main ridge of the Niedere Tauern , and the Perwurzpolster saddle , which leads over into the Rottenmanner Strechautal .

The sunny side includes the favorable locations of the flatter western slopes of the Pölstal, which are more richly structured by valleys.

The tax municipality , founded in the early 19th century, was one of the two cadastral municipalities of the municipality of Sankt Johann am Tauern, alongside Schattseite . It was the nominal parish capital .
