description

In 1753–56, a hall church with a roof tower was built under the abbot of Reifenstein Abbey . The tower rises on a square upper floor above an eaves cornice . His eight-page essay, behind the sound arcades , is the belfry , and he received the pointed helmet in 1857. A neo-Romanesque extension was added in 1879–80. It consisted of a transept , a choir with an apse and a sacristy in the southeast. The side sloping roofs of the facade are covered by curved gables . The portal to the west is framed by Ionic pilasters . On their shafts are the dates 1756 and 1880. Above the entablature with volutes on both sides is a shell-shaped wall niche with the stone figure of St. Bernard . In the tympanum of the north portal is a relief with Saint Martin on horseback . The interior has a groin vault . Two floors of the tower are open to the nave with round arches , the lower one has a vault with stucco from the former chapel in Beinrode . The church furnishings include a winged altar from 1611 with depictions of the birth of Christ, the four evangelists and paintings in grisaille . Currently outsourced. A painting about the Annunciation dates from 1770.

Carved figures of St. Lawrence and John are from the 2nd half of the 15th century, a life-size carved figure of Christ carrying the cross was made in the 1st third of the 17th century, alabaster figures of St. Benedict and a Cistercian abbot were made around 1700. In the choir there are wooden figures of the Archangel Michael from 1900 and St. Martin from the first half of the 18th century. The Pews have partly cheeks from the time of Rococo , they are from the Reifenstein Abbey.

The organ with 15 registers , divided into two manuals and a pedal , was built by Louis Krell around 1900 . The church was renovated in 1956/60.
