After the construction of a parsonage, Walter Borner took over as the first local pastor on January 2, 1971. The church

Entrance section

As early as 1956, the general assembly of the family association decided to build a church and founded a church building fund. In the next two years the necessary funds for planning and building the new church were obtained. The project by architect Adrian Keckeis from Burgdorf met with approval and was to be carried out by the construction company Käsermann, Utzenstorf. Because of the choice of the building site, there was a long delay until the foundation stone could be laid on September 4, 1960. The church was finally built by master builder Paul Bürki from Utzenstorf and consecrated it on June 25, 1961 by Bishop Franziskus von Streng under the patronage of the Apostles Peter and Paul.

The clear and simple design of the building was widely recognized. Adrian Keckeis also built the Church of the Resurrection (Konolfingen) in 1967 . In 1968 a rectory was built next to the church. During the major renovation of the church in 1992 based on suggestions from architect Keckeis, under the direction of architect René Habegger from Utzenstorf, the main side entrance was moved to the north side. At the same time, a new gallery was built for the new organ and the west side was designed differently. With the abandonment of the two small sacristies, the sanctuary could be enlarged. For this purpose, a larger sacristy as well as a parish office and reception room with a covered corridor to the rectory were built on the south side. Two classrooms were set up in the basement of the connecting building. After the renovation, the church was re-consecrated on March 25, 1993 by the papal nuncio, Archbishop Karl-Josef Rauber .

inner space

Interior with choir

After the expansion of the choir area, the stone sculptors Jörg Hutter & Sohn redesigned the chancel with the altar and the ambo steles. The reliefs on the limestone blocks from Saint-Triphon are based on designs by Jörg Hutter from Mühledorf SO . According to the artist, they represent a peacock throne on the altar with two mirrored peacocks as a Byzantine symbol for eternal life . The reliefs on the two anvils for the reading and the Gospel are depictions of the apostles Peter and Paul. The large cross is also a design by Jörg Hutter and was made by the artistic blacksmith Alfred Hasler in Altstätten , as was the tabernacle and the baptismal font. The ear of wheat and the grape above the fish and bread symbol on the tabernacle are the work of Bernhard Brenner from Ersigen .

Two statues from the South Tyrolean W. Perathoner workshop are a Madonna in the Marienkapelle and a St. Joseph the worker with the baby Jesus above the baptismal font. A colored crucifix, the work of the sculptor Michael Moser from Kollerschlag (Austria), and fourteen stations of the cross as relief panels are other works of art in the church. The nine colored glass windows were designed by the artist Paul Derron from Solothurn and they were made by the art glazier HG Mäder from Küsnacht . On the back wall of the gallery is the Holy Spirit window and in the fully glazed west wall there are four scenes from the life of Jesus, with birth, transfiguration on Mount Tabor , crucifixion and resurrection. The four square windows on the east wall symbolize the four basic elements fire, water, earth and air.
