The Catholic St. Ulrich Church in Poppenroth , a district of the Bavarian spa town Bad Kissingen in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , is dedicated to St. Consecrated to Ulrich von Augsburg . It belongs to the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered under the number D-6-72-114-215 in the Bavarian list of monuments .

history

The church tower was built in the first half of the 13th century. In 1612 it became today's Julius-Echter-Turm by adding a floor . The nave was built at the same time .

On December 13, 1793 Poppenroth became an independent parish. Before that, the village was a branch of the Stralsbach parish . There was not enough concern for the financing of the clergy and the church.

In 1889 the church was expanded: the nave became the transept and a new nave was built. After 1957 the interior of the church was renovated.

In 1975 the Poppenroth parish lost its independence. Initially, it was looked after by Albertshausen - from 1975 to 1986 - and then - from 1986 to 1991 - by Waldfenster . The Garitz parish has been responsible for Poppenroth since 1991 .

description

The church tower has a cross vault with two Gothic windows on the ground floor . The sound windows are ogival . The church has had a cruciform floor plan since it was expanded in 1889. The north-facing choir protrudes from the transept and is closed polygonally.

Furnishing

The font was built in 1571; the pulpit dates from 1692. The high altar is decorated with baroque figures of the crucified, the apostle and evangelist John and St. Sebastian equipped.

The rest of the interior, including the ceiling painting of the Assumption in the nave, was created in 1889.

The ceiling paintings in the transept and in the choir are works by the Hausen painter Jakob Bissinger from 1920.

Pastor of Poppenroth since the parish was founded (December 13, 1793) to the present day.
