Stade Brestois 29 is a French football club from the city of Brest in the Finistère department in Brittany .
history
The club was founded in 1950 through the amalgamation of five clubs from the Catholic sports movement (including L'Armoricaine de Brest, which was known as the “Cup Schreck” in the interwar period) under the name Stade Brestois . In 1982 the name was changed to Brest Armorique Football Club ; that was the name of the club until it had to file for bankruptcy in 1991. In the same year it was re-established as Stade Brestois 29 .
The club colors are red and white; the league team plays in the 15,097-seat Stade Francis-Le Blé , which was called Stade de l'Armoricaine until 1982 . "Armor" is Breton and means "land by the sea" - the Celtic name for Brittany.
The club's president is Denis Le Saint, who replaced Yvon Kermarec in spring 2016; The coach of the first team has been Jean-Marc Furlan since June 2016 . (As of November 2016)
League affiliation
The club played first class ( Division 1 , renamed Ligue 1 since 2002 ) in 1979/80, 1981–1988, 1989–1991 and 2010–2013 and again in the 2019/20 season.
