1981/82 season - no promotion due to financial deficits

In 1981/82, the first five teams from the Oberliga North-West and South played an intermediate round. In this, the teams could then qualify for the promotion round.

The "ESG" made it to the 2nd Bundesliga in the second season in the league. Due to the weak economic situation, however, the rise could not be perceived.

1992/93 season - second division play-off quarter-finals

Since the 1992/93 season , promotion to the Bundesliga after the preliminary round has also been decided via the play-offs and, as in the 1970s, played on a single track. This was taken over by the 1st Bundesliga, in which the play-offs had already been introduced in the 1982/83 season .

Statistics of the Kassel Huskies

1994/95 season - founding member of the DEL and play-off quarter-finals

As a founding member of the German Ice Hockey League, the Kassel club reached the top German ice hockey league for the first time in the club's history . The “Huskies” were also the best team in the second division teams that made it into the DEL.

In the first two seasons of the DEL, the play-offs began in the round of 16 and thus involved the first 16 of a total of 18 teams.

1996/97 season - German runner-up

In 1997 the "sled dogs" celebrated their greatest success so far. They performed better than ever before, both in the preliminary round and in the final round.

A new mode has also been introduced in the league. This year the preliminary round consisted of two phases. The first phase describes the first 28 games, which were played in a single round. The first six places decided in another championship round the final placement of the preliminary round and also qualified directly for the play-offs.

The remaining teams, including the Kassel Huskies, decided the qualification for the play-offs in another single round. The first two places were allowed to take part directly in the play-offs, the remaining teams competed in a further qualification (the so-called “pre-play-offs”) in the best-of-five mode. The winners of these pre-play-offs were ultimately allowed to move into the play-offs.
