The Aldingen barrage is a river barrage of the Neckar and includes a lock on the right bank - seen in the direction of flow of the Neckar - as well as a two-span weir and a power station on the left. The lock has two chambers and is equipped with mortise gates , it is founded on the adjacent rock. A weir bridge on which a public road runs leads over the barrage.

Construction project

The condition of the gates, the gate drives and the electrical engineering make a basic overhaul of the left chamber urgently necessary. At the same time, the solid construction will be repaired, which is also in poor condition.

The concrete structure of the left chamber is to be renovated and the chamber equipment (ladders, bollards, protective devices, inspection locks and cable ducts) replaced. The chamber wall on the defensive side, the upper and lower head, must be anchored in the bedrock to ensure that it stands safely. New standardized gates with the associated drive technology are also to be installed and an impact protection system is to be installed in front of the lower gate to prevent ships from driving against the gate. In addition, the electrical, control and communications technology is to be renewed according to the current state of the art. The network system - a connection between the two chambers, with which one chamber could be used as a water reservoir when there was little water flow in the Neckar, for example, and thus saved water drainage - must be abandoned.

So that the new and extensive technical systems can be accommodated, the current drive houses of the lock are demolished and rebuilt, and the operational building on land is being converted. On land, two mobile crane parking spaces will be set up for lifting the gates in and out, and the associated access to the lock area will be adapted.

Estimated construction time

The construction period is expected to last from the beginning of 2013 to 2015.

location

The barrage is the 20th system, counting up from the mouth of the Neckar into the Rhine .
