The Guttenbach dam is a river barrage and consists of a double lock on the right bank, a triple weir and a power plant on the left bank in the direction of the Neckar . The lock and weir footbridge, the lower edge of which is 5.3 m above the upper water level, is built over on the lower head by the operations building. In the left lock chamber the lower gate was renewed in 1984 and the upper gate with drives and controls in 1999. The wall concrete comes from the construction time and has not been changed.
The right chamber was completely refurbished from 2009 to 2011. As part of the construction work, the outer concrete shell was replaced, the sluice gates replaced and the drive, electrical and control technology renewed, which showed age-related signs of wear and tear after 50 years of operation.
Construction project
The basic overhaul of the right lock chamber was a prerequisite for ensuring safe lock operation while the left lock chamber was being extended. As part of the lock extension, which is planned after Oberwasser, the concrete walls will be renovated and the lock equipment will be replaced ( bollards , ladders, etc.). When working on the project, it remains to be checked in the following to what extent a renewal of the components that have been modernized in recent decades and an extension of the weir-side upstream tail unit is necessary. Furthermore, the existing sheet pile wall in the headwater is being upgraded . This includes equipping them with dolphins, building an access road from the main road and replacing the lighting.
Estimated construction time
The construction project is expected to be implemented from 2021 to 2023. Work on the berth is scheduled for 2024.
location
Seen from the Rhine, the barrage is the eighth of its kind.
