Steffen Riekers

Steffen Riekers (born March 20, 1984 in Achim ; † September 22, 2016 in Essen ) was a German theater actor .

Life

Riekers was born near Bremen . He gained his first acting experience during his school days at the Cooperative Comprehensive School Stuhr - Brinkum , where he participated in various school theater productions from 1997 to 2004.

After high school and community service , he completed an acting training from 2005 to 2009 at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig . There he graduated in July 2009 with an acting diploma as a stage actor. From 2007 to 2009 he played his first leading roles as part of his training at the studio of the Dresden State Theater. In the 2008/09 season he had a first engagement at the Dresden State Theater.

In 2007 Riekers played the role of the young Ebenezer Scrooge in a stage version of A Christmas Carol in a production by Holk Freytag . Also directed by Holk Freytag, the role of Schmitz followed in 2008 in a stage version of the novel Mephisto by Klaus Mann . In 2008 he was the captain in a theatrical version of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's The Elective Affinities in the Small House of the Dresden State Theater . Riekers then took on roles in two productions by Kay Voges : in 2008 the Damis in Molières Tartuffe and in 2009 the Schnock in William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream . In 2008 he played in the stage version of the novella Michael Kohlhaas by Heinrich von Kleist, written by Kai Ivo Baulitz for the Staatsschauspiel Dresden . Riekers' last role in Dresden in 2009 was Pastor Rösselmann in Friedrich Schiller's play Wilhelm Tell in a production by Wolfgang Engel .

Since the 2009/10 season Riekers has been a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater Erlangen . There he made his successful debut in October 2009 in the play Clyde and Bonnie by Holger Schober . From November 2009 he played the title role in the children's musical The Gingerbread Man by David Wood . From January 2010 he took over the smart biology lecturer Nick in Edward Albee's stage success, Who is Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Alongside Hermann Große-Berg (as George) and Linda Foerster (as Putzi) . .

From April 2010 he played the role of the stranger in a production by the director and general manager Katja Ott in Henrik Ibsen's play The Woman from the Sea at Theater Erlangen ; With this production he also appeared at the Bavarian Theater Days in Regensburg in June 2010 . In November 2010 he took on Schweizererka's son in the new production of Brecht's play Mother Courage and Her Children at Theater Erlangen .

In the 2010/11 season he took on the role of the police officer Dürrmann in the play Der Kaktus by Juli Zeh at the Erlangen Theater . There he also played Demetrius in a new production of the Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream in the 2010/11 season, directed by Artistic Director Katja Ott . In the 2011/12 season he appeared at Theater Erlangen as Valerio's servant in the comedy Leonce and Lena ; in this role Riekers also recited passages from the novel The Pale King by David Foster Wallace .

From 2012 to 2014 Riekers was permanently engaged at the Landestheater Tübingen . There he played u. a. La Roche in Der Parasit by Friedrich Schiller (2013/14 season) and the title role in the Sophocles tragedy King Oedipus (premiere: April 2014). Riekers was most recently a permanent member of the ensemble at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven since the 2015/16 season .

Steffen Riekers died in September 2016 after a serious illness.
