The Steinknickle is 527.1 m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the northwest of the Mainhardt Forest . It is located near Neuhütten in the district of Heilbronn in Baden-Württemberg . The Steinknickleturm observation tower is a popular excursion destination on it .

The Steinknickle rises on the northern edge of the Mainhardt Forest on the small Stubensandstein -uppe plateau of the Burgfriedens and on the boundary of the desert red district of Neuhütten, whose settlement area extends directly to the east of the elevation. In an arc from northeast to northwest to southwest around the Steinknickle in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park , the slope below the Hagenbach and other tributaries of the Bernbach , which flows a little further north to the Brettach , arise on the east flank of the Dachsbach , which leads south to the Fichtenberger Red is running.

The Steinknickle belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land (No. 10), in the main unit Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains (108) and in the subunit Mainhardter Wald (108.4) to the natural area Hinterer Mainhardter Wald (108.41).
Protected areas
On the Steinknickle lies the landscape protection area Steinknickle ( CDDA -Nr. 324825; designated 1981; 14 ha in size), to which the fauna-flora-habitat- area Löwensteiner and Heilbronner Berge (FFH- extends to the north and west flanks of the elevation) No. 7021-341; 5427.53 km² ).
Steinknickleturm
In 1913, the then community of Neuhütten built a first 25 m high observation tower on the hilltop west of the village. In 1935 the Swabian Alb Association took it over . 1945 shelling of American artillery damaged the tower. After further storm damage in 1955 and 1956, it had to be demolished in May 1956. In its place, the Steinknickleturm was built in 1957, a new tower made of wood on a concrete base, which, at 30 m, rises slightly more than its predecessor. This new tower was inaugurated on Ascension Day 1957; on June 3, 2007 the 50th anniversary of its opening was celebrated.
The tower offers a view to the west of the Weinsberger Valley , to the north over the Hohenlohe plain , and when the sky is clear to the Odenwald . In the east you can see parts of the Waldenburg Mountains , in the south the Mainhardt Forest up to the Hohen Brach near Grab , in the west the Löwenstein Mountains with the Stocksberg .
Since 1995 there has also been a barbecue area and a children's playground at the foot of the tower.
Friends of Nature House
At the west foot of the tower top, about 150 m away at the beginning of the step edge down to the vast forests around the Bernbach, the Steinknickle Friends of Nature House, which opened in 1913 , was the first in Württemberg . It offers accommodation for around 80 people in four-bed rooms and three dormitories and is run by volunteers all year round on weekends. Specially marked hiking trails lead to the Naturfreundehaus from the railway stations in Heilbronn , Obersulm-Eschenau , Öhringen and Sulzbach an der Murr .
