Stephan Kling (born March 22, 1981 in Dachau ) is a former German soccer player and current team coordinator of 1. FC Saarbrücken .

Career

At the age of six, Kling left his youth club SC Amicitia Munich after just one year and moved to the youth department of FC Bayern Munich . At the age of 19 he was part of the regional league team, for which he played 60 games and was part of the professional squad for a short time - albeit without a role in this.

In 2002 he was part of the professional squad of Hamburger SV , for which he played 26 Bundesliga games until December 31, 2004 and 19 regional league games (1 goal) for the second team. During this time he also won his only club title as a professional footballer. He played his first Bundesliga game on September 15, 2002 (5th matchday) in a 2-0 home win over 1. FC Kaiserslautern . He was also used twice in the DFB Cup , three times in the League Cup and four times in the UI Cup .

From January 5, 2005 he played for 1. FC Saarbrücken for two years in the 2nd Bundesliga and - due to relegation - for one year (15 games) in the Regionalliga Süd.

In 2007 he moved to Austria for Bundesliga club SCR Altach, for whom he made his debut on July 11, 2007 (1st matchday) in the 1: 4 defeat at FC Red Bull Salzburg and scored the only goal (of two in the season). The following season he played 25 times and scored one goal. Due to the lack of prospects and the descent of the Altacher , Kling returned to Germany in the summer of 2009 in the Association League Hesse for VfB Süsterfeld. In the 2010/11 season he played 17 times for the Hessenliga promoted Eintracht Wetzlar , before moving to the western regional division Sportfreunde Lotte during the winter break .

Without commitment, he ended his active football career and held the post of team manager at the regional league club FC 08 Homburg . In October 2013 he applied to Milan Šašić , the head coach of 1. FC Saarbrücken, and was immediately asked to go to the third division club's training camp , where he was trained as a team coordinator.

National team

In 1999 he made his debut as a junior national player in the U-18 team of the DFB in the game against Italy. At the U-18 European Championship , which was held in Germany from July 17 to 24, 2000 , Starke completed all three group matches and was third in the tournament with the U-18 national team .

As a result, he moved up to the U-20 national team and was part of the squad at the 2001 U-20 World Cup in Argentina. There he played in all four tournament games when the German selection in the second round was defeated by France 2: 3.

After appearances for the junior teams of the German Football Association, Kling also played once, on September 6, 2002, in team 2006 , the perspective team for the 2006 World Cup in the 1: 2 defeat in Mönchengladbach against the A 2 team from Turkey. Between 2002 and 2004 he made seven appearances in the U-21 national team , including two qualifying matches for the 2004 U-21 European Championship .
