Streeter & Smith was a South African manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Cape Town company started producing automobiles in 1913. This makes it the first African automobile manufacturer. The brand name was Streeter & Smith . Production ended in the same year. Some vehicles were built.

Only one model was on offer. It is referred to as a cycle car, although it is unclear whether it complied with the weight limit of 350 kg for cycle cars. An air-cooled built-in engine from Precision with 8 HP power propelled the vehicles via belts. The three-speed transmission came from Armstrong. The open body offered space for two people.
