Shamrock Automotive is a South African manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Cape Town in 1984 . In 1985 the production of automobiles began. The brand name is Shamrock . Shamrock Autocraft was the importer for the USA . Ten vehicles were built in 2000, three in the following year and twelve in 2002. Ten vehicles and five kit cars have been handed down for 2003 . Some sources erroneously state the production period as the 1990s.

The most important model Cobra 427 Mk. IV is a replica of the AC Cobra . The basis is a chassis . An open body made of fiberglass is mounted on it. Many parts come from Jaguar . V8 engines from Ford with 5800 cm³ displacement and 320 HP to 400 HP power have been handed down alongside engines from Volvo . Another source mentions a Chevrolet V8 with 320 horsepower.

In the past there was also a model in the style of the Mini Moke with engines from the VW Golf and, from 1998, the replica of the Dodge Viper .
