The Subaru Tribeca is a sport utility vehicle of the Japanese four-wheel - car - car manufacturer Subaru , which was produced from the beginning of 2005. Until the revision carried out in autumn 2007, the vehicle was called the B9 Tribeca .
development
Originally the model B9 Tribeca was named, which was made up of the abbreviation B9 (Subaru-internal name of the market segment) and the district name of Manhattan Tribeca .
The Tribeca was developed at a time when General Motors still owned shares in Subaru. Therefore, the Tribeca should also be sold as a model of the GM subsidiary Saab within the badge engineering process common at GM . However, in late 2005, GM sold its stake in Subaru, and plans for a Saab 9-6X were abandoned in favor of the GM platform-based Saab 9-7X . A concept of the Saab is in Trollhättan in the Saab Museum, this is called 9-6.
For the first time in the history of Subaru, the Tribeca is manufactured exclusively in an American plant, as it is neither produced nor officially offered in Japan. Manufacturing and assembly is carried out at the Lafayette plant in the state of Indiana by Subaru of Indiana Automotive .
The Tribeca was launched on the North American market in early 2005 ; in Germany it was only available from autumn 2006.
Facelift
After only three years of production, a modified Tribeca was presented at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in autumn 2007 . Subaru picked up the main criticisms in terms of design and driving performance. With the revision, the abbreviation B9 was deleted from the name, so that the car has only been called Tribeca since then .
The Tribeca got a more conventionally designed front section, a more powerful engine, improved transmission set-up and modified side windows. The cubic capacity of the boxer engine was increased to 3.6 liters.
Due to a lack of buyer interest, sales to Europe were discontinued in autumn 2010. In the USA, however, the Tribeca is still in the program.
At the end of 2014, the sale of the Tribeca was also discontinued on the rest of the continents. A successor model was presented in 2017 with the Subaru Ascent .
technology
As usual with Subaru , the Tribeca is equipped with a boxer engine and all-wheel drive . It is available as a five- or seven-seater.
Initially, the only engine variant offered for the Tribeca was a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder boxer engine with 180 kW (245 PS) and a 5-speed automatic transmission, which for the 2008 model year was replaced by a 3.6-liter engine with 190 kW / 258 PS was replaced. Unlike earlier Subaru models, the Tribeca does not have frameless windows.
