Suchdol ( German  Dörnthal ) is a district of the municipality Křimov in the Czech Republic .

geography

Suchdol is located 7.5 kilometers northwest of the city center of Chomutov on the ridge of the Bohemian Ore Mountains on the edge of a ridge above the confluence of the Křimovský potok ( Krimaer Bach ) and the Kamenička ( Neuhauser Flößbach ) with the Chomutovka ( Assigbach ). To the north the mountain falls steeply into the valley formed by the Křimovský potok and the Chomutovka. To the north is the Kamenička Dam and to the northwest is the Křimov Dam . To the south rises the Klenovec ( Klingerberg , 757 m), in the northwest of the Chlum ( Ahrenberg , 754 m). The Chomutov – Vejprty railway line runs on the southern outskirts, and the Křimov-Suchdol railway station is also located there.

Neighboring towns are Třetí Dolský Mlyn and Bečov the north, Druhý Dolský Mlyn, První Dolský Mlyn, Blatno and Šerchov in the Northeast, Hradečná and Březenec the east, Krasna Lipa and Domination in the southeast and Strážky in the south, Nebovazy and Křimov in the southwest. To the west was Straz and in the northwest Menhartice ; both villages were abandoned in 1958 because of the construction of the Křimov drinking water dam.

history

The village was probably created in the 13th century by German colonists. Suchdol was first mentioned in writing in 1281, when Chotěboř von Retschitz left the Krimove estate , including the associated villages, to the Teutonic Knights in Komotau . After lengthy disputes with the Bohemian Crown, Wenceslaus IV took advantage of the order's weakness after the Battle of Tannenberg in 1410 and confiscated its property. In 1411 Wenceslaus expelled the order from the country. Subsequently, the village became part of the Chomutov rule. When they were ransomed from their subservience, the city of Komotau also bought the village of Dörnthal in 1605. From then on, its residents were obliged to do military service at Gut Schönlind , which belonged to the Free Royal City . The parish and school location was Krima . One resident died in an avalanche in 1830. In 1846 six buildings burned down as a result of a lightning strike.

After the abolition of patrimonial Dörnthal formed a political community in the Komotau district commission from 1850. In 1875 the Komotau-Reitzenhain railway was put into operation by the Buschtěhrad Railway and a railway station was set up on the southern edge of the village. In 1867 and 1880 the whole harvest was destroyed by hailstorms. The Czech place name Suchý Důl was created in the 1870s . In 1880 only 5 Czechs lived in the village. The inhabitants of the village lived mostly from cattle breeding and agriculture, which was not very productive due to the harsh climatic conditions on the Ore Mountains ridge. Others earned their living by wage labor in the forest. Lace-making and sewing were done at home. In 1890 a windpipe caused damage of 10,000 guilders in Dörnthal. The current place name Suchdol has been in use since 1921. In 1930 four Czechs lived in the village. After the Munich Agreement , the community was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Komotau district until 1945 . In 1939 the community had 100 inhabitants. After the end of the war, Suchdol returned to Czechoslovakia . In December 1945 135 people lived in Suchdol. In 1946 the German residents were expelled . In 1951 Suchdol was incorporated into Křimov . Between 1953 and 1958, the Křimov reservoir was built northwest of Suchdol.

In 2001 the village consisted of 2 houses in which 6 people lived. Most of the houses in the village are used as holiday homes.
