Sumilao is a metropolitan parish in Bukidnon Province on Mindanao Island in the Philippines . It has 27,660 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 10 barangays . It belongs to the fourth income bracket of the communities in the Philippines and is described as partially urbanized .

It is located approx. 30 km northwest of the provincial capital Malaybalay City , the journey time by bus is approx. 45 minutes, and 65 km south of the regional capital Cagayan de Oro, the journey time by bus is approx. One and a half hours. Its neighboring communities are Manolo Fortich to the north and west, Impasug-ong to the east, and Baungon to the southwest and Malaybalay City to the southeast. The topography of the municipality is described as mountainous with large canyon-like valleys of the Tagoloan and in the northern part with large plateaus . The mountains of Mount Kitanglad rise in the south of the municipality and the 2,093-meter-high Tago mountain range in the southeast .

Dalirig, Manolo Fortich, but is in the area of ​​Sitio Kilabong, Barangay Vista Villa. The Basag cave is located in the area of Sitio Basag, Barangay Kilabong and can be reached via this; besides stalactites and stalaknites, the cave also has several waterfalls inside the grotto. The Paiyak Cave is estimated to be over 1 million years old and is located on the southern slope of the Palao-pao ridge. The Lagundang Cave is located in Sitio Lagundang, Barangay Kilabong, it has a wide entrance and several waterfalls fill smaller lakes in which crabs and fish live and lie within the cave. The Alalum waterfalls have a height of approx. 42 meters and lie in an untouched nature.
