T. Michael Moseley
Teed Michael Moseley (born September 3, 1949 in Dallas , Texas ) is a general in the US Air Force and was 18th Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF) from September 2005 to August 2008 . After various management errors, he submitted his resignation at the urging of the US Secretary of Defense on June 5, 2008 and also asked for his retirement. He held the office of CSAF until August 1st.
Military career
His military career began "Buzz" Moseley in July 1971 with the rank of Second Lieutenant and with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M University. He graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 1973. He then began pilot training and, until 1989, trained as a flight instructor and examiner himself, pilots on F-15 "Eagle" fighter aircraft.
On December 1, 1996, Moseley was appointed Brigadier General and on October 1, 2003, was finally appointed General .
From November 2001 to August 2003, as commander of the US Central Command Air Forces and the 9th Air Force of the US Air Force, he directed the air force operations of the coalition forces in the Iraq war and Afghanistan . He then became Vice Chief of Staff of the US Air Force. US President George W. Bush nominated T. Michael Moseley as Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF) on May 16, 2005 . After formal confirmation by the US Senate on July 1, General Moseley was sworn in on September 2, 2005 as the successor to General John P. Jumper in the office of CSAF.
On June 5, 2008, at the urging of US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates , who coordinated the matter with George W. Bush , he resigned from his position as CSAF and asked for his retirement on August 1. As reason a number of management errors was called, including arms sales to Taiwan , which takes batteries for helicopters fuses for intercontinental ballistic missiles contained. In addition, Gates was dissatisfied with the consequences that the Air Force leadership drew from the incident, in which a flight of a multi-nuclear B-52 bomber (without the knowledge of the pilots) over the national territory of the United States (from North Dakota to Louisiana).
