Tamaryn Hendler (born August 12, 1992 in Cape Town , South Africa ) is a Belgian tennis player .

Career

Hendler began tennis at the age of seven and preferred hard courts. She played mostly at tournaments of the ITF Women's Circuit , where she has won four singles and five doubles titles so far.

Hendler played her first professional tournament in October 2006 in Hasselt , where she received a wild card for qualifying for the WTA tournament Gaz de France Stars . But she was already defeated in the first round by Swiss Emmanuelle Gagliardi 3: 6 and 1: 6. In May 2007 she reached the last 16 at the $ 50,000 tournament in Charlottesville , where she lost to Estefanía Craciún 3: 6 and 1: 6. In October of the same year she reached her first quarter-finals in Istanbul , which she lost to Tzipora Obziler with 0: 6 and 5: 7.

In 2008 she was in the top 500 of the world rankings for the first time , after she first moved into the second qualifying round at the WTA tournament in Miami , then in the subsequent $ 75,000 tournament in Torhout in the eighth and in the $ 25,000 tournament in Kristinehamn in the quarterfinals. At the junior women competition in Wimbledon , she reached the semifinals, but failed to Noppawan Lertcheewakarn . In October 2008 Hendler won her first individual title as a professional player in Lagos . With further good results and the round of 16 in a $ 100,000 tournament, she made a leap into the top 300 for the first time in April 2009. In the following twelve months, however, she was unable to achieve any notable successes.

In autumn 2011 Hendler won three tournaments (in Noto , Jakarta and Lagos ), whereupon she was in 208th place in the individual world rankings in November.

In January 2012 she received a wildcard for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time . In qualifying for the Australian Open , however, she already failed in her opening match with 1: 6 and 0: 6 to Kristina Mladenovic . With Raleigh's entry into the finals in May 2012, Hendler earned a starting place for qualifying for the French Open . There she won her first round match against Alizé Lim 3: 6, 7: 5 and 6: 4, but then lost to Karolína Plíšková in the second qualifying round with 5: 7 and 3: 6. In July 2012 she reached her best world ranking position with rank 178. She also received a wildcard for the qualification for the two following Grand Slam tournaments in Wimbledon and the US Open , but failed both times in the opening match. After the US Open in September 2012, she no longer played a tournament and was no longer included in the rankings from 2013.

In August 2013 she appeared again as a wild card at the US Open in the qualifications of, where they lost their Erstrundenbegegnung against Kristyna Pliskova with 3: 6 and 0: 6th It was her last match on the pro tour until September 2017 when she returned to the ITF tour.

From 2007 Tamaryn Hendler played for the Belgian Fed Cup team . She couldn't win any of her eight Fed Cup games, six singles and two doubles.

In the German Bundesliga , Hendler played in 2008 and 2009 for TC Moers 08 and 2013 for second division MTTC Iphitos Munich .

Hendler played her last professional tournament so far in July 2018 and has not been in the world rankings since July 2019.
