action

Freya and Robert, called “Zecke”, break into the house of the Schrey couple, wealthy textile entrepreneurs. They kill the dog and beat Gerd Schrey down. Shortly afterwards, Marlies Schrey is found slain in a field not far from a tourist restaurant. Lessing and Dorn, who are currently having problems with their French babysitter, take over the investigation. At the scene of the crime, Lessing concludes that the tied Marlies Schrey escaped from a vehicle, fell onto the street and fled into the field, where she was followed and finally killed. The survey of the guests of the nearby restaurant confirms this thesis.

While Lessing and Dorn were talking to Maik Schrey, Gerd Schrey's son, he received a call from the kidnappers and a ransom demand for two million euros. Dorn finds an insurance policy that covers a kidnapping of the Schreys with a ransom of up to one million euros per kidnapped person. In another phone call, Maik Schrey explains, unmoved by the death of his stepmother Marlies, that he only has one million euros available and that he no longer pays because Marlies is dead. The kidnapper couple, who are hiding on a farm in Ulla , agree to the reduction in the ransom. Out of anger about the lost second million and the repeated clumsy behavior of his accomplice, the two kidnappers get into an argument. Tick kills Freya and hides her in the farm's manure pit . Zecke agreed with Maik Schrey that the ransom should be dropped from Gerd Schrey's private plane outside of Weimar.

The dropping of the money succeeds, but the bag with the ransom gets caught in a high-voltage pylon. Tick climbs the pole. After he has cut the bag free and dropped it on the floor, however, he dies of recklessness. Gerd Schrey flees with the money and hides it in the ruins of the Sophienheilstätte in Munich, a district of Bad Berka . Then he has a truck driver bring him back to Weimar and goes to the police, where his son Maik is being questioned, as Dorn and Lessing suspect that the kidnapping could have been initiated by Maik or Gerd. Only here does Gerd, who had been knocked unconscious at the beginning of the kidnapping, learn of his wife's death and collapse.

After the interrogation, Dorn and Lessing meet their babysitter Adrienne again at the police station, who wants to report her boyfriend missing. It turns out that this is Robert the kidnapper. Through a tip from their colleague Lupo, Dorn and Lessing also learn that he is the brother of Maik Schrey's friend Doreen. As a result, she comes into question as the mastermind behind the kidnapping and is advertised for a search.

After Gerd Schrey returned home, Doreen went to see him there and forced her at gunpoint to lead her to the ransom. She reveals to Gerd that she wants revenge on him. Marlies was her mother and had left her family because of Gerd. After the father's suicide, Doreen came to live with adoptive parents and Robert was placed in a home. Gerd assures Doreen that he never knew that Marlies already had a family when he met her. He himself was widowed after his first wife died giving birth to Maik. This had always burdened the relationship between father and son. Gerd and Doreen go to the Sophienheilstätte, where Doreen can finally be arrested.

reception

Reviews

“Thuringia should largely return to normal next week after the corona restrictions. But this "crime scene", in which the blood and cocoa flow freely, plunges the state into insanity despite all the summer impressions and holiday dreams. "

“With“ The Last Schrey ”, author Murmel Clausen and director Mira Thiel succeed in an entertaining mixture of bloody meanness and sarcastic joke, in which the original and unused characters stand out in particular. More of that. "
